Bachelor Pad Furniture Must Haves

When it comes to picking up some new furniture for your bachelor pad, you may be overwhelmed by all the choices that are out there. Sure, you’re planning on spending a significant amount of time in this pad – it should be comfortable and welcoming! But the point is, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality just to get it set up. After all, he will be spending a large portion of the time in this room of yours – he should be comfortable in it, not cramped. Here are some must haves for your space:
A Mattress Cover – If you aren’t going to be using the bed, it’s understandable that you would want to avoid the chance of any dirt or debris getting in to it. Since most mattresses nowadays come with some sort of cover, it’s definitely worth investing in one. They can be as simple as a pillow case over the top of a mattress, to as elaborate (and possibly costly) as one that goes around the entire mattress. The latter is best for those who often roll around in their sleep…you can get some rather complicated ones, too. Just make sure that it covers the whole mattress, or else you risk having the spring coil break and spring all the way through!
Shower Chair and Hammock – This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s actually kind of hard to come by. You can usually find a place to put these, but it’s usually at the very back of the pad. Why? Because they take up the most space. However, if you get a good brand, then you won’t have to worry about this. It really should be in every guest bedroom.
Coffee Makers and Plates – A coffee pot or coffee plate is absolutely essential. Without them, you simply can’t have a decent breakfast! If you don’t know where to put these, though, they will just end up taking up unnecessary space. So look for something that’s big enough for two people. At least that way, there’s no wasted space!
Sofa and Console Table – If you were lucky enough to have a home with an actual sofa, then that’s great. Unfortunately, most folks are stuck with a couch. If it’s large enough to seat two, then by all means, put it in there. But for practical purposes, you may want to go with a smaller console table, instead. It can even go in with your couch as a matching set!
Wine Glasses and Bar Set – Now, this is actually more important than you might think. Why? Because you want to be able to serve your guests wine while having fun with them! There’s nothing worse than having your friends over and only have one glass of wine available. So, make sure you have both a bar set and a wine glass in your basement.
Secondary Hardware and Electrical Packages – This is pretty much the same list as the furniture section. You need a few bar sets, some lights, a mixer, and maybe even a mixer. For electrical packages, you’ll probably need an outlet and a couple of electrical outlets. I guess the important thing is that you have all the basic things that make a bachelor pad atmosphere possible. You don’t have to have everything wired; just get a few essential items! Also important is that you get bar mats, cocktail glasses, wine glasses, and perhaps even the toiletries!
Having these must haves ready to go when you arrive at your new place of residence is pretty much a must. There’s nothing worse than purchasing something and then finding out that it doesn’t work or that you have to do some major re-arranging to make it work. This would most likely happen if you bought furniture from an online retailer, as well as in a brick and mortar store. Online retailers will more than likely let you choose your style of furniture and see it shipped to you, while a bricks and mortar store has no choice but to display the furniture they have in their store, with no choice as to how you’ll see it.
